Karna Kopi Branding
Karna Kopi opened in 2019, situated in Setiabudi area of Bandung, Indonesia - an epicenter of Chinese-Indonesian culture and authentic, retro aesthetic developments from the colonial era. Founded by Stephen P., an avid coffee enthusiast and new (back then) entrepreneur, the branding we created for them amplifies the name (karna means 'because' in Bahasa Indonesia, kopi means 'coffee') and concept of the place (a humble, efficient but comfortable stop for quality, specialty coffee beside a busy main artery road) with identity styling that resonates with the local surrounding.
Chinese-Indonesian Retro-modern Aesthetic
Vintage colonial fonts, brick-red colors that harkens the Chinese-Indonesian aesthetic, stamped illustrations from the 1950s and warm tones for the photographic content - all influenced by the locale and also the very nature of specialty coffee they specialized in itself. A work of art inspired by the olden days. We just put a little twist of modernity based on the current design trend here and there to make it relevant to a more younger customer base of today.
